Yeh Gangga Run

Posted on January 8, 2021 By Benny

Away from the big city, no pollution, just very few cars and motorcycle. View of rice paddy, behind it is a mountain, just like a child’s drawing, except that this is for real. This is what a village like Yeh Gangga has to offer for those who seek for a good run.

It was a simple out and back run that morning. The intention, other than simply getting outdoor and good sweat, was to survey the route in preparation for longer run to the beach. I need to make sure that, along the way, I will be able to buy water, or should I carry one.

Once clear of the village toward the beach, the road narrows, barely fit for 2 cars to pass by. On the left and right is open field of rice, most are just planted. The water on the field reflects the sun, adding to the feel of very hot air. There are no big trees to provide shades. Only some short papaya trees and coconut trees lining up the narrow road.

After 3 km, I decided to turn back. This was already half kilometer further than original plan. The hot air didn’t provide the motivation to continue further. And the village border provide the needed landmark to turn around.

Welcome to Desa Pakramana, Yeh Gangga

Along the way back, there are few shops open that sell bottled water. I skipped them for now, deciding to move forward before the air got hotter. The hilly road feels heavier on the way back, as expected. I stopped on top of a bridge, just to catch a breath before a climb. Looking down the river, there is an altar for offering.

It was a good run with good sweat. Next time got to start earlier, and reach the beach.
